Gregory and the Hawk is the pseudonym of US singer-songwriter Meredith Godreau. In 2003, Godreau adopted the moniker as a nod to her brother Greg and as a means to avoid media stereotypes of female musicians.
Between 2003 and 2008, Godreau garnered popularity on the now mostly defunct social media platform Myspace. On the website, dedicated fans would dissect and analyze her music while also sharing covers of her songs. During this period, Godreau would sell more than 15,000 albums despite being an unsigned, independent musician.
After the release of her 2012 project Stone EP, Godreau began exclusively releasing to her Bandcamp page and Patreon. Many of these initially exclusive works would be released on her Youtube Channel or other streaming services several months after their original debut on Patreon.
