Camille Angelina Purcell, better known as KAMILLE, is a singer, songwriter, producer and vocal arranger. As a songwriter, she is signed to Simon Cowell’s label Simco, under BMG publishing. As an artist, she releases under her own label Pure Cut, also under BMG.
She first released material under the name Camille in 2008, with the EP Tank is on Empty. In 2011, she released the single “Fallacy”. However, her commercial breakthrough came as a songwriter; she wrote for Tinchy Stryder as well as placing “Billion Lights” with JLS, and after being noticed by the band’s associate Simon Cowell and their shared parent label Epic, she was signed to BMI through Simco. She then began writing for several of its artists including Olly Murs, Louisa, Ella Henderson, Leona Lewis, Fleur East and, most notably, Little Mix. She has continued sessions adjacent to the label into 2020, including Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and more material for Little Mix and Olly Murs.
In 2017, she returned to releasing her own music under the moniker KAMILLE after signing with UMG/Virgin EMI. She collaborated with TMS under their artist name Ghosted on the single “Get Some”. This was followed by her own single “Body” and its parent EP, my head’s a mess.
In 2018, she also released the single “Emotional” featuring Kranium and WSTRN, followed by remixes with Stefflon Don/ Chip, Seani B and Jus Now. She also featured on songs by Little Mix and Gorgon City, as well as her vocals being used heavily on “Solo” by Clean Bandit & Demi Lovato, which she co-wrote. That year, she had further album and single placements with Clean Bandit, Little Mix, Mabel, Jess Glynne, Boyzone, Marc E. Bassy and NEIKED.
In 2019, while continuing the recording of her debut album with Goldfingers, and TMS, she left the UMG/Virgin EMI. Setting up the label Pure Cut Records under BMG, she continued on to release singles “Don’t Answer” and “Santa X4” towards the end of the year. She also had placements with The Script, RITUAL and Jax Jones.
In 2020, after releasing the single “Love + Attention”, Purcell announced the release of her debut EP. She released the demo track ‘Love 2.0’ soon after. She also had placements the same year with Mabel, RAYE, Little Mix, Westlife, Tiësto and Dua Lipa
From 2018-20, while releasing her own material, songwriting sessions continued with Jessie Ware, Nile Rodgers, David Guetta, Mullally, Zara Larsson, Lianne La Havas, Anne-Marie, Nick Jonas, Rihanna, Pixie Lott, Ellie Goulding, Nina Nesbitt, Ella Henderson, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Stormzy, Ray BLK, Years & Years, John Newman, Dan Caplen and Sam Smith, as well as Fred Ball, Naughty Boy, Pharrell Williams, Danny L Harle/Doxa, Ali Tamposi, Emily Warren, Steve Mac, Jesse Shatkin, and Ben Preston.
