MoStack
Montell Dally (b. 31 August 1994), professionally known as MoStack is a British rapper hailing from Hornsey, North London. A genre-bender, he mixes in melodies with his punchlines, he is known for his charismatic, comical style of rap complemented with hard hitting real life stories.
MoStack revealed in 2019 that he is autistic and has been praised by many for his outspoken awareness on the disorder. He said:
I donât do interviews because of my autism & because everything you need to know about me is in my music.
Before his rise in the trap and later Afroswing/Afrobashment scene, Mo was a road rap artist that went by the name Mo The Kid and Lil Mo. He was also a member of street-gang Grey Gang (also known as âG.B.Gâ, or the âGrey Bandana Gangâ) based in Hornsey, North London.
However, his popular emergence started in 2014 under the name Mostack. Moâs unique style caught attraction through his freestyles on SBTV, his Fire In The Booth, his Behind Barz and single âNo Buddyâ. His link-up with East London rapper, and close collaborator, J Hus boost them both into popularity as their collaboration âSo Paranoidâ became Moâs first smash-hit, amassing over 4.6 million views online, to date.
His debut mixtape Gangster with Banter was released on February 18th 2016, which featured hit singles âI Doâ and âMurderâ. MoStack continued to take the UK by storm throughout 2016 through the release of his tracks âLiar Liarâ and âLiar Liar (Remix)â, which boasted an all-star feature line up of Krept & Konan and J Hus.
His crowning moment came in 2017 following an unprecedented hit-streak, with a string of highly acclaimed singles such as âScrew & Bewâ, âLet It Ringâ, âBlock Poppingâ and âUssy Ussyâ. He dropped his sophomore mixtape High Street Kid on June 2nd 2017 to a great critical response, with most dubbing it MoStackâs best body of work. The mixtape went on to land at Number 16 on the UK Album Charts.
Throughout 2017 and 2018, Mo also appeared on a lot of hit songs as a standout feature, including two features on J Hus' debut studio album Common Sense, close collaborator Steel Banglezâs track âBadâ, and on Daveâs single âNo Wordsâ â the latter in which landed on the charts at Number 17 on the UK Singles Charts.
His highly acclaimed debut studio studio album Stacko was released on June 7th 2019, and debuted at Number 3 on the UK Album Charts.
In 2020, Mo took a hiatus from music dropping a few singles, before announcing the his highly anticipated sequel mixtape High Street Kid 2 in August 2021.
