Introducing… Micky Friedmann! |
From his home base in Los Angeles, DJ Alexander’s talents are creating a buzz heard throughout the music scene. A master in the DJ booth and in the recording studio, Alex’s energetic approach to original production work translates right to the dance floor, where every event is transformed into an unforgettable musical experience. Born in Cuba, surrounded by musical inspiration, Alex’s love of music surfaced early, and by age 19 he was a working DJ in LA, learning the ropes from the diverse talent pool available to him. In 1999 he began his first residency at Circus Disco, and during his three years there Alex’s unique mixing style and ability to drive a dance floor every week got him noticed. In the early years of the decade, he had the opportunity to spin with superstars Victor Calderone, Peter Rauhofer, Junior Vasquez, Paulo, Manny Lehman, Tracy Young, Tony Moran, and Hex Hector to name a few, spinning at Resolution in the legendary Mayan theater, as well as Vision at Avalon, nurturing the large loyal following he keeps to this day. In February 2003, Alex debuted as the headliner for Reload afterhours and packed the house as rotating resident for over a year. Since then, he has headlined numerous events up and down the west coast and beyond like New York Gay Pride Saturdays at Splash, Palm Spring’s Infamous White Party Climax Afterhours, Cherry DC’s Opening party & in 2011, The Purple Party Afterhours in Dallas. Aside from his current resident slots at Scandal & Reflex in Los Angeles he has helmed a long line of events over the years, including multiple appearances at Montage (Spin) San Diego, Palladium and 550 San Francisco, Ego and Mars Afterhours LA, the Queen Mary Long Beach, Town in D.C. & Score in Miami. He has also hit clubs in Atlanta, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Boston, and Houston. On 7/7/07, LA nightlife was taken to new heights when Alex debuted as the headliner for Scandal @ The Music Box Theater in Hollywood, where he remains the popular party’s resident DJ. In 2005, Alex joined his producing partner Mark VDH uniting their sounds to create 100's of remixes in the last 5 years. Their first original production “Encuerate (Strip)” was featured on DJ Abel’s Alegria compilation, and they have logged two top 5 Billboard singles for Tommy Boy with “Stand By Me” and “Shake It”. Their remix of Amber’s “Sexual” was featured on Wayne G’s “Atlantis” compilation, and they logged another top 20 Billboard single with “Surrender Me” produced for Tony Moran, and sung by Debbie Holiday. For the last three years Alexander & Mark VDH have been the creative force behind the original music for the midnight video countdown for the legendary Masterbeat New Years Eve celebration. But Alex’s sound simply has to be heard live to be fully appreciated. Bringing his extensive knowledge of house, tribal, hip-hop and Latin rhythm to the tables, he seamlessly blends classic house, deep pulsing grooves and expressive vocal anthems with sexy tribal beats to forge a truly invigorating musical joy ride. And with his innovate mixing skills, he crafts a textured polyrhythmic sound that is known to work the dance floor into a frenzy with each added layer, leaving them begging for more. Whether it be a main event or an afterhours, his fans return time and time again because they know there will always be surprises and as yet unheard mixes in every live performance. |
