Here's another music act to look out for. If you've been following our weekly UK chart updates, they have their 2nd single, "In For The Kill", peaked at number 2. Now on for some brief info about them.

La Roux are a British electropop synth duo band made up of singer and synth player Elly Jackson, and co-writer co-producer Ben Langmaid, Their music is largely influenced by 1980s synth pop including Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, The Human League and Prince.

As for the origin of the group name, Elly claims to have found a book of baby names in a bin and within the book was there's a name La Roux, French for "red-haired one" (although the actual French would be "La Rousse").

Signed with major record label, Polydor, they are set to release La Roux's debut album in June 2009. But their first single, Quicksand, was released by the Kitsuné Music record label in November 2008.

La Roux's second single "In for the Kill" was released on 16 March 2009. Debuted at number 11 in the UK Singles Chart on 22 March 2009, which would eventually peaked at number 2.

La Roux were the supporting act on Lily Allen's UK tour in March 2009 and obtained the fifth position on the BBC's Sound of 2009 poll, amongst critics and the like.

Their genre of music is Electropop and Sythpop, which I really adore loads. I didn't really get on the hype of "In for the Kill", but their 3rd single changed my mind. "Bulletproof" is the third single by pop duo La Roux from their upcoming debut self-titled album and the song is to be digitally and physically released on June 15 2009. Love the video too. It's very artsy. I'm sure Bulletproof would do well as the followup. It's electropop/sythpop madness!!! My kinda stuff. =)

Both the Foamo and Zinc remix are the bomb. The Tepr mix is not bad, sounds like a dub with only the use of the chorus. Enjoy!!!

Adele - Cold Shoulder

May 26th, 2009; 5:54 pm (GMT+8) 0

"Cold Shoulder" is the third single from Adele, released from her debut album "19". It was released in the UK on March 31, 2008. This song is produced by Mark Ronson. A remix byBasement Jaxx has also received airplay for the dance scene and is digitally available.

Quite a popular song back then in the UK, the Basement Jaxx and Out Of Office mix are featured in countless MOS (Ministry of Sound) compilations. But my fave of the lot is the Basement Jaxx mix. A fun remix. =)

Elliott Yamin - Wait For You

May 4th, 2009; 6:44 pm (GMT+8) 0

Debut single from his self titled album, this song is indeed successful, but not extremely as it peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and number 5 on the Pop chart. It ain't bad. Written and produced by Stargate, it doesn't really sound like the generic beats of "Irreplaceable", "With You" and "Tattoo". Love the piano intro. Paired with the lyrics, it's really a sad ballad.

Both Jason Nevins remixes are great. I personally prefer the Guitar mix to the Syth mix, as it stays true to the original but it's danceable too. (Not the acoustic guitar kind, it's the electric guitar) Both are worth listening. It's Jason Nevins!!! I would be reviewing his 2nd album, which would be out tmr, 5th May 2009, in the US. With Jermaine Dupri and Stargate as some of the producers backing the album, it should be decent enough. =)

And our very own DJ Junior played it on Superstar Summer, and shoutouts to our DJ Yoshiki on playing Booty Luv too. =)

Booty Luv - Dance, Dance

Apr 29th, 2009; 1:15 pm (GMT+8) 0

"Dance, Dance" is the 5th and final single released by Booty Luv. Well, I considered this as a promo single only, not released in the UK but in some parts of Europe instead. And this song aint a cover version too, making it the 2nd orginal single release by them and again with song writing credits by the girls. This song only have 1 remix, by Hardwell.

I love the intro and the chorus loads, a party song definitely. =) So, that's the end of the "Boogie 2nite" era. Im still eagerly awaiting for the high quality version of "Say It", I'm crazy about that song!!! Would do well on the charts i must say. =)

As I've featured the girls last mon on their newest single that will be out in AUG, I decided to do a week's worth of features on them that will consist of remixes to their singles and their debut album review.

A cover version of Tweet's, Seamus Haji remixed and produced the song. Booty Luv re-recorded the Seamus Haji version with their vocals and released it as their debut single.

The song was released in the UK via the Hed Kandi Label on 27th Nov 2006. The song is commercially successful as it peaked at number 2 on the UK singles chart and stayed in the Top 10 for 8 weeks in total.

The girls did a great job on this song and it's a smart move to release this as their debut single. Very Disco-ey, so me. Plus nothing would go wrong as Seamus Haji remixed the song. =)
